The Patras Port Authority supported Patras Half Marathon

The Patras Port Authority supported Patras Half Marathon

The Patras Port Authority SA supported our race once again, as athletes running parallel to the facilities of the city’s New Port were an integral part of the event.

The Port of Patras is one of the most important ports in the Mediterranean and has unique characteristics that make it a leader in the region. It serves as the main Western gateway of the country, catering to passenger and commercial traffic from Southern and Central Greece. Its contribution to the economic, social, and cultural development of the region and the country has historically been significant.

Within the framework of its strategy, the Patras Port Organization aims to maintain and strengthen its leading position as the main Western gateway of the country. Simultaneously, it seeks to enter the tourism market by promoting itself as a tourist port (Mega Yachts, cruises) and expand into new markets.

In this context, its actions focus on strengthening an outward-looking policy of cooperation among the ports of the Adriatic Sea on port industry issues, developing new business activities to enhance the competitiveness of the port and its contribution to integrated maritime transport, as well as initiating and actively participating in initiatives in the port industry sector in the new Macro-Adriatic-Ionian Region of the European Union.
